Creation of 2 Dementia care units, 6 conventional units, an activity centre offering individualized care and a social centre
Characteristics of the operation
Complete reconstruction, on site, of a nursing home comprising 100 long-term beds (including 3 for temporary clients) and 8 day-care places subdivided into:
- 2 Dementia care units with 14 individual rooms (24 m²)
- 6 conventional units with 12 individual rooms (30 m²)
- An activity centre offering individualized care
- A well-equipped, attractive social centre open to outside visitors
Tasks performed by Gerontim
- Feasibility study
- Plan for operation, project for the facility
- Preliminary planning: architectural and technical programme, specifications
- Help in the choice of architect (private competition by invitation)
- Monitoring of the architectural design project, landscape, furnishings and decorations and signage projects
- Monitoring and acceptance of work

- A collective “village centre” atmosphere with private spaces for peace and quiet
- Welcoming of outside visitors while ensuring the security of the building
- Overall adaptation of the structure to the clients’ motor, sensory and cognitive difficulties
- Home automation and modern information and communication technology to contribute to the independence of elderly persons and accessibility
- The integration of high environmental quality (HEQ) concepts
